Stephan began his career working in the jointly owned Giorgio Armani/Holt Renfrew boutiques throughout his native Canada. Selling and client development quickly became his passion and within two years became the highest producing associate. His responsibilities expanded to include seasonal personal shopping trips tor his clients, and eventually a promotion to the buyer position for six Giorgio Armani boutiques. In 2002 Stephan was recruited by Gucci to the role of VIP sales for the newly opened boutique in Toronto. One year later the company moved him to NYC in a managerial position for the soon to open boutique on Madison Avenue where he remained for six years. Gucci President, Daniella Vitale promoted Stephan to head buyer of Womens ready-to-wear, accounting for annual sales of $76 million in 52 directly operated stores. Stephan was poached by Diane Von Furstenberg to be their VP of Retail Merchandising managing a buying team of five with annual sales of $60 million. He then was brought back to Gucci in the custom created role of Brand Manager at Bergdorf Goodman. There he was responsible for all sales and management of the Gucci brand, resulting in unprecedented growth from $8 to $21 million in a short four year period. After visiting friends in Litchfield County for several years, Stephan and his husband bought a house in Cornwall CT which they used on weekends. In 2020, they along with their two dogs, moved to Connecticut full time. This new life style change allowed Stephan to make the transition from luxury retail to luxury real estate by obtaining his license in 2021.
