Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, the Bridge is considered an excellent example of the Town Lattice Truss. The barn red, single lane bridge was built in 1864 and still stands today as one of northwest Connecticut’s most often painted and photographed masterpieces. A site worth seeing! Once you cross the bridge into the small town center you are greeted with New England charm. The main businesses in town include Ian Ingersoll Cabinetmakers, the Wandering Moose Café & Catering Company and the Cornwall Inn.

The community of Cornwall Bridge is located on the Housatonic River at the junctions of Route 7 and Route 4 and is considered northwest Connecticut’s fly fishing mecca! Stop by and visit the Housatonic River Outfitters who offer a full service fly shop, outfitter and guide service. Browse their collection of antique fishing and hunting equipment as well as local antiques. You might also visit the Housatonic Fly Shop and Lodging just farther up the road on Route 7 for a rustic experience in the northwest hills. Also in Cornwall Bridge is the Cornwall Bridge Pottery Store one of the country’s most prolific producers of woodfired pots for everyday use.
